New project for a historic Cistercian abbey XII sec.

In close collaboration with the Superintendency and the Cultural Heritage of the Diocese, the creation of the new project by Raul Gabriel © for the 12th century Cistercian abbey of Rivalta Scrivia began after a two-year journey with the communities, historians and local authorities. The project aims to take a specific path in the relationship between contemporary art and historical monuments that does not sacrifice either dimension. According to Raul Gabriel, contemporary and historical can dialogue and interpenetrate as long as they face a path of in-depth study of the essential themes of the historical building to reinterpret them according to rules that are impossible to generalize and to evaluate case by case. The keywords in Raul Gabriel's project are harmony, singularity, respect, meaning, dynamics. Liturgical supervision is by Mons Vittorio Viola, bishop emeritus of Tortona and since 5 June 2022 secretary of the Dicastery for divine worship and the discipline of the sacraments.
